Universiteit Maastricht

Established on January 9, 1976, UM is one of the youngest universities in the Netherlands and is recognized for its innovative approach to education and international orientation. Prof. Miranda Schram

Full Professor

Professor Miranda Schram, is professor of Diabetes Epidemiology, with a specific focus on Cardiovascular and Mental Health. She holds MSc degrees in Biomedical Sciences (1999) and Epidemiology (2002), and a PhD on diabetes research (2004). Since 2008, she has been a senior investigator at Maastricht UMC+ and one of the founders of The Maastricht Study, a population-based cohort study on type 2 diabetes and other highly prevalent chronic conditions. Her research explores cognitive decline, depression, early vascular dysfunction, and psychosocial aspects of diabetes. She is involved in multiple national and international research consortia on population-based cohort studies, diabetes, depression and dementia.
